{Etsy Shop Spotlight} Sophia & Co.

Are you ready to buy some more adorable hair accessories? Because you'll have a hard time passing some of these up! Sophia & Co. is a brand new Etsy shop. They just had their grand opening on March 22nd. I actually first discovered them on Instagram and saw they had some amazing grand opening deals and quickly snatched up these two adorable bows below. Not only do they have several really cute bow styles, but they also have great taste in baby girl names! ;)

Here's an interview I had with shop owner, Shawn Wick:
Tell me a little bit about yourself.
My name is Shawn Wick and I am about to graduate from Ohio State with a degree in Early Childhood Education. My better half, Jake, and I are expecting our first baby on May 26, which is just 8 short weeks away! We work very well together, and have learned that both of us are good at some part of the creation when making our bows and headbands. Jake makes all of the bows, while I put headbands together. We are excited to begin growing our small business and hope that others will enjoy our products as much as we do!

How did you get started with your Etsy shop and is there a story behind your shop name?
We got started with our Etsy shop just one week ago (March 22), and decided to do this as sort of a hobby. We are expecting a baby girl on May 26, who we are naming Sophia which is where the name came from. We love to buy headbands for her and decided to begin making our own to reflect our personal style. We decided to list a few of our creations on Etsy in hopes that others share the same style interest as we do.

Do you have a favorite item you have created?
My favorite items are the sparkle bows because I love everything sparkly!! I also love the purple polka dot Mama and Mini bows. The mini bows were actually an accident as Jake cut the fabric too small when making one, and decided to go with it anyway. Turns out, the mini bows are my favorite size!

What inspires you?
Colorful fabrics! The hardest part in making bows is deciding on which fabrics to use. When we go to pick out fabrics my mind just goes a million miles an hour about the many different fabrics we could use and how to use them. Jake definitely inspires me as he is the more creative one of us, and often comes up with the best ideas on new products.

Here are a few of my other favorites from their shop:

Trendy Tot Tuesday: What Sophia Wore

Each Monday our local public library has a Baby Rock class. It's for kids under 2 (although I've never seen them turn away older siblings) and they read a couple books, sing songs, and then have bubbles at the end. Sophia loves it, so we try to make it over at least a couple times a month. We made it over yesterday.

However, she was more interested in getting every book out and looking at them instead.

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that we then went upstairs where they have a big play room. They have all sorts of fun things for the kiddos to play with; a puppet theater (where Sophia is in this picture), a velcro wall with shapes, a lego table, train table, dress up area, and a big play house.

Unfortunately since it's Spring Break around here, there were several older kids who were getting a little rowdy and not looking out for the younger kids playing, so we didn't stay super long. She had fun while we did, though!

{Review & Giveaway} grace & rosie

I am so excited to share that I have my very first giveaway for you guys today! If the name grace & rosie sounds familiar, it's because I featured her sister set in my Easter Accessories post earlier this month. I'm happy to now share more about Jeana and her shop with you!

Here's an interview I had with shop owner, Jeana Cosentino:
Tell me a little bit about yourself.
My name is Jeana Cosentino. My husband, Rich, and I have been married for 17 years and we have 3 wonderful kids, ages 14, 11, and 8 years old. I am blessed to be able to stay home with my kids and make cute bows!

How did you get started with your Etsy shop and is there a story behind your shop name?
I started my Etsy shop after many years of loving to craft, sew and design. I just love pretty fabric and had to create something cute with it besides pillow covers and curtains (like I do for my home). The story behind the name of my shop, 'grace & rosie' is actually both of my daughters' middle names. I feel it's the perfect name for my shop.

Do you have a favorite item you have created?
My most favorite item(s) that I've created have to be my fabric bows. I take a lot of pride in every bow I make and I can be a bit of a perfectionist, which I feel is a benefit to making anything great.

What inspires you?
I'd have to say my main inspiration comes from my family. It sounds cliche, but it's the truth! I'm so blessed to have this small business from home. My customers also inspire me to keep creating and making cute hairbows with the feedback I've received. I'm so grateful!

Jeana was kind enough to send me these two beautiful headbands for Miss Sophia.

I was of course excited to see this first one, found here. Aqua happens to be my fave color lately and it's a perfect pair with the white and gray. The bunting print is great and I love that's it double layered, creates a really beautiful look. This headband is just so well put together, you can really tell Jeana puts a lot of effort into making each of her headbands excellent quality.

Sophia wasn't much in the mood for taking pictures today, so here's the best I could get.

I'm also in love with this beautiful tangerine felt headband, similar here. I like that it has a simple look to it, but it adds a great touch to any outfit. Sophia has the perfect little romper to wear with it. Since the print is so bold, I think the solid felt bow really evens the look out. Now where is that nice Spring weather at so that she can wear this outside?! This headband is also very sturdy and toddler proof. I know it will last no matter how many times Sophia will inevitably realize there is something on her head and quickly pull it off, until I can distract her again and put it back on! Ah, toddlers... I've been so close to buying this style of bow before but haven't for whatever reason, so I'm glad to now have one in Sophia's collection!

Here are a few of my other favorites in Jeana's shop. Each bow can be put on a clip or headband.

Go check out all the other adorable items at grace & rosie. You can also keep up with Jeana on Facebook and Instagram.

One lucky Cute Tot On The Block reader will receive their choice of item from grace & rosie!
